Advertised Employing Department: Athletics Department Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: The Athletics Department is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Marketing. This position is responsible for generating revenue through the creation and administration of marketing and promotional plans specific to ticket sales for assigned sports (currently volleyball and wrestling). Will develop and implement marketing plans; consult with coaches; promote attendance and sales; implement game-day marketing operations, special events, and video board production. The position also manages and is responsible for growing the Jr. Cyclone Club (JCC) kid's club program. Will plan and direct marketing and promotional activities for the JCC including membership, clinics, movie night, football game day activities and Cyclone Experience. This position will assist with Trade Agreements/Gifts-in-Kind, Trademark Licensing processing and approvals. The Assistant Marketing Director is also responsible for oversight of the student workers and promo crew including recruitment, hiring and scheduling. All positions are responsible for adhering to the rules and regulations of the department, University, Big 12 Conference, and NCAA. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide high standards of customer service in a busy setting. Also requires solid creativity and marketing skills; proficient in use of emerging technologies and social media; ability to multi task and work with regular interruptions; and ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse clientele. Must be available to work at assigned evening and/or weekend events. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 5 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position. Preferred Education and Experience: Experience independently managing the marketing for a sports team(s). Additional Information: This position is subject to compliance with the NCAA's IAWP legislation which defines an individual associated with a prospective student-athlete (IAWP) as any person who maintains (or directs others to maintain) contact with the prospective student-athlete, the prospective student-athlete’s relatives or legal guardians, or coaches at any point during the prospective student-athlete’s participation in men's basketball, women's basketball, and/or football and whose contact is directly or indirectly related to either the prospective student-athlete’s athletic skills and abilities or the prospective student-athlete’s recruitment by or enrollment in an NCAA institution. This definition includes, but is not limited to, parents, legal guardians, handlers, personal trainers and coaches. A violation occurs if an IAWP is employed by the institution and, at the time of employment, a student-athlete who enrolled at the institution in the previous two years (and remains enrolled at the institution) was a prospective student-athlete by which the individual meets the definition of an IAWP. A violation also occurs if an IAWP is employed and, within two years after such employment, a prospective student-athlete by which the individual meets the definition of an individual associated with a prospective student-athlete enrolls as a full-time student in a regular academic term at the institution.
