The University of Michigan is seeking a qualified Events and Marketing Specialist to provide event planning and management of events for the Office of Academic Innovation.

This new position is an exciting role, working within a fast-paced team to develop, support and launch new digital learning initiatives through collaboration with our world-class faculty of the University of Michigan. This position reports to the Associate Director of Marketing under the leadership of the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Innovation. The incumbent will plan, manage, and facilitate events supporting a variety of efforts with a focus on increasing awareness of and participation with the Academic Innovation Initiative, fueling faculty partnerships, increasing student engagement, and additional efforts aligned with the mission and goals of Academic Innovation. Concurrently planning, organizing, managing, and tracking results for numerous large, complex events for a multitude of audiences·including faculty, students, staff, alumni, and the public
Coordinating and implementing logistics related to venues, A-V, registration and attendance, publicity, and catering, including onsite event management
Collaborating on brainstorming sessions and contributing ideas for new events
Reviewing invoices for payment and assisting in budget projections for future programs
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
At least 2 years of demonstrated experience managing large, complex in-person events for a multitude of audiences
Impeccable communication skills across varying modes and styles of communication
Demonstrated excellence in proofreading, organizational skills for managing events, and customer service with attention to detail and follow-through
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities and take initiative, while keeping supervisor and project leads in the loop
Demonstrated initiative, independent judgment, diplomacy, and service-oriented attitude
Strong commitment to teamwork and problem solving, as well as the ability to act independently
Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Ability to manage workload under time constraints and conflicting demands
