The marketing and communications specialist will report to a seasoned marketing and communications manager as part of an advancement team that includes fund raising and alumni relations professionals. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to strategic institutional messaging, mission-driven communications, and a coordinated approach to advancing Trinity’s success.
The successful candidate will:
• Ensure that the school’s well-established brand is expressed consistently, comprehensively, and with the highest quality. • Work with the communications and marketing manager to expand and maintain the school’s social media presence, produce print materials as needed, maintain the school’s website and create and distribute electronic and print communications. • Collaborate with other departments and program areas (including Admissions, Athletics, Summer Programs, and the IB Diploma Program) to ensure that program information is balanced and integrated into the school’s communications presence across all channels. • Actively engage with faculty and staff to encourage creative collaboration and mutual support. • Use strategic communications to enhance engagement with alumni, parents, prospective families, donors, and other constituent groups. • Expand the school’s ability to use video, audio and other new media to support overall communications initiatives. • Bring a high-energy presence to the school community. • Attend school events, performances, athletic contests, and activities as needed. • Understand and appreciate the flexibility, varying perspectives and different work styles found in an independent school environment.
Skills and Experience
Excellent written and oral communications skills are a necessity for the position. The candidate should be enthusiastic, outgoing, and have the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. In addition, the candidate should have:
• Three to five years communications, journalism or public relations experience, ideally in an independent school or higher-education setting preferred. • Demonstrated ability to write, edit and proofread content in a variety of media channels. • Familiarity with website content management systems. • Knowledge of graphic design and typography; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite. • Social media and digital storytelling experience. • Familiarity with online marketing, including digital advertising and SEO. • Expertise in video production or project management.
