The Department of Athletics at St. Mary's University of San Antonio, Texas, is accepting applications for a graduate assistant in digital media/marketing.
Position Specifics: Position begins on August 20, 2019 and will run until May 14, 2021. The successful candidate will work 20-25 hours a week in office, plus all home athletic events. The candidate will receive a stipend of $3,000 per year. The candidate also will be allowed to take up to nine credits worth of classes each semester at no charge. The position will require flexible hours, some travel, evenings and weekend work. The candidate can be dismissed prior to the completion of the two-year graduate assistantship if she/he does not perform the duties to a level of satisfaction.
Primary Job Duties: Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to: sports marketing and in-game promotion initiatives aimed at increasing fan attendance, social media maintenance, video and graphical production, assisting with the maintenance of RattlerAthletics.com, writing press releases, game-day event management, compiling statistics, supervision of the student assistant staff and assisting with other special projects and facilities needs.
Minimum Requirements: A bachelor’s degree and admission into a St. Mary's University graduate program are required. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to report and research results are a must. The candidate should have an understanding of basic marketing principles and have an up-to-date outlook of digital media and social media trends. In addition, the candidate should possess good writing, editing and communication skills, with knowledge of AP style. Previous graphical work with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop, in addition to a statistical familiarity with Stat Crew, is preferred but not required. Previous experience in a sports information office and/or broadcasting experience also a plus, but not required. Ability to multitask and handle game-day operations is a must.
St. Mary's University is a Division II institution with a long and successful history in intercollegiate athletics, which includes six national championships. The school offers 11 sports and competes in the Lone Star Conference.
