Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Executive Director of UC Davis Venture Catalyst, the Marketing Specialist will create and produce marketing and communications concepts, designs, documents, and materials that integrate key messages aligned with Venture Catalyst and the UC Davis-affiliated innovators and associated startups it supports.
Responsibilities include development of marketing language and design to communicate key messages to target audiences; design and production of materials in digital and print formats for a variety of projects; producing creative concepts and designs for marketing campaigns; and working with UC Davis' and other visual identity standards to develop marketing and communication materials. Oversee and coordinate targeted marketing and communication to diverse audiences.

Lift and maneuver boxes of paper and files weighing up to 50 lbs.
Work overtime including evenings and weekends &/or holidays to meet business needs
Work Environment: Work remotely to meet deadlines and operational needs.
Provide own transportation to off-site events and meetings.

Minimum Qualifications: -BA or BS with experience in marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Experience developing marketing strategies and brand platforms with proven results. -Experience with essential software packages including Microsoft and Adobe applications. -Communication skills to interact effectively with culturally diverse constituents, including students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members. -Experience and skills to determine and utilize appropriate channels to deliver messages to key audiences. -Experience creating and managing printed marketing materials to support campaigns. -Demonstrated skill to manage and utilize images to convey key messages. -Skill to consult and coordinate with clients on most effective format and style to reach intended audiences, and to respond appropriately to client demands. -Experience maintaining a high degree of discretion, integrity and sensitivity to confidentiality and privacy.
Preferred Qualifications: -Skills to translate complex science into simple concepts for non-scientific persons. -Experience providing creative guidance, analyzing communication needs and giving sound professional judgment on advertising, graphic design, branding and communication strategies that support integrated marketing priorities and activities. -Project management experience including problem-solving and organizational skills to effectively monitor and manage multiple projects. -Skill to apply design concepts consistently across print, digital and web media. -Skill to write marketing messages for multiple audiences. -Skill to work with a team and balance competing demands both conceptually and in terms of priorities. -Experience in innovation and entrepreneurship or technology company startup environment. -Skills to be entrepreneurial and innovative, including initiating ideas and instituting best practices in communications.
