The Director of Marketing will serve as organization’s lead to develop and implement a successful, comprehensive marketing strategy as Cook County Health (CCH) continues to transform itself to compete in the new healthcare landscape brought about by federal healthcare reform. CCH is comprised of two acute care hospitals, a network of community health centers, the CORE Center, Cook County Department of Public Health, CountyCare health plan and Correctional Health Services at the Cook County Jail and the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center.
This position is exempt from Career Service under the CCH Personnel Rules.
Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing or related field from an accredited college or university
Seven (7) years of practical experience in marketing and communications
Three (3) years of experience in healthcare
Three 3) years of experience managing a team
Experience in a management or leadership role in marketing or health care marketing, brand management, advertising, planning or related role
Experience with creative campaign deployment
Experience working with marketing and media agencies
Experience developing marking communications and related processes
Demonstrated proficiency and experience in the use of digital strategies
Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
Experience in health administration, planning, analysis, etc.
General Administrative Responsibilities
Review applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements and consult with Labor Relations to generate management proposals
Participate in collective bargaining negotiations, caucus discussions and working meetings
Document, recommend and effectuate discipline at all levels
Work closely with labor relations and/or labor counsel to effectuate and enforce applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements
Initiate, authorize and complete disciplinary action pursuant to CCH system rules, policies, procedures and provision of applicable collective bargaining agreements
Direct and effectuate CCH management policies and practices
Access and proficiently navigate CCH records system to obtain and review information necessary to execute provisions of applicable collective bargaining agreements
Contribute to the management of CCH staff and CCH’ systemic development and success
Discuss and develop CCH system policy and procedure
Consistently use independent judgment to identify operational staffing issues and needs and perform the following functions as necessary; hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, direct or discipline employees pursuant to applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements
Work with Labor Relations to discern past practice when necessary
Sets budgets and priorities for system marketing and branding initiatives
Conducts ongoing market analysis, interpret and present findings, and use data to set goals with metrics for positioning CCH facilities, service lines and its managed care products in the competitive marketplace
Collaborates with CCH leaders to develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to drive volume but and/or to project a positive image among CCH’s various stakeholders
Engages and manages contractual relationships with marketing firms the system may contract with to further develop the CCH brand, its services and products and develop any new brands as identified by system leadership
Establishes evaluation mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of branding and marketing efforts
Leads the development and implementation of marketing strategies to raise awareness, build reputation, increase clinical volumes and membership in managed care products
Oversees productions of marketing materials including, but not limited to, advertising campaign materials, flyers, banners and materials for external events (from layout to final art) and updating existing communication materials
Plans, develops and executes creative strategies and initiatives that drive patient volumes. These may be for dividual service lines, CCH facilities or CountyCare, CCH’s Medicaid managed care plan
Collaborates closely with the media and community affairs team to strategize and develop communication campaigns that are aligned with marketing goals and ensure that branding standards are followed, that all material is reviewed, applicable regulatory and legal requirements are fulfilled and approved
Controls the budget for the department in order to meet financial and business objectives
Drives and facilitates the usage of digital assets for marketing purposes
Ensures that the brand strategy continuously develops
Performs other duties as assigned
