The Office of the Vice Provost for International Affairs (OVPIA) provides strategic leadership for global engagement and internationalization at Cornell University. The Director of Marketing and Communication for International Affairs (Director) directs, designs, and leads strategic planning and execution of an integrated communication program. The Director provides communication leadership for major units and initiatives under the OVPIA umbrella, including: Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies, Office of Global Learning, Global Grand Challenges, Cornell China Center, Institute of Politics and Global Affairs, and Global Operations. What you will do: The Director will serve as a member of International Affairs senior leadership team and play a key role in office-wide decisions in advancing OVPIA vision and strategy. The Director will lead the communication team (direct reports and other related staff across the organization who contribute to the communication efforts). With the associate director of communication, the Director will develop communication objectives and workplans aligned with the OVPIA strategic plan, recommend and maintain best practices for implementing communication projects, analyze and measure effectiveness of communication, and recommend new strategies to meet OVPIA goals. Work closely with University Relations to leverage its central services-- strategic communications, media relations, news, social media, web communications, brand communications, and major event planning--in support of OVPIA priorities. Network with communication directors across campus in a parallel effort to increase OVPIA's reach. Execute communication workplans--hire and manage external staff/vendors; build internal teams to implement projects; create materials in all media formats (direct concept, research, write, edit, design, art direct, produce).
