The Content Manager is responsible for managing the content, marketing, and collateral related to academic conferences, symposiums, executive education, as well as other special events. This position reports directly to the Director of Programs and Special Events, operates in collaboration with the Associate Director of Programs, and works in conjunction with Executive Directors and Faculty of the supported programs. This position is part of an integrated support team and will work cross-functionally to ensure effective support for the relevant Law School programs, with a dual emphasis on event management, and content/marketing.
This position will work collaboratively with the Director and Associate Director of Programs to provide both internal and external audiences a consistently high quality experience when participating in academic events and activities and be expected to exercise creativity when confronted with timeline and budgetary constraints.
A successful candidate is one with a background of multitasking and project management. You will join and be an activate participant of a dynamic team that plans over two hundred events per year.
Content and Marketing
Works with Executive Directors, Faculty, Clinics, and other staff to recommend and establish marketing strategies for program/event communications. You will manage the creation and upkeep of conference registration and website site design, advertising, brochure development, marketing efforts and affiliate communications. Track the progress of the execution of each program. Project manage the content and marketing aspect of multiple simultaneous events, all of which are different and unique.
Conduct market research, including competitive benchmarking, analyze campaign effectiveness used to inform decisions regarding strategic marketing direction, product segmentation and customer targeting, online advertising and marketing materials, including online and printed compilations of materials deemed pertinent to the events (speaker bios, photographs for materials, ads, brochures, event agendas, abstract booklets, etc.)
Manage marketing plans/programs to meet business objectives and timelines, including collaboration with internal stakeholders and vendor partners.
Create, maintain and manage relevant online information resources. This includes program websites, online registration systems, and electronic communications such as save the dates and announcements, and newsletters.
Serve as the marketing, web, production and design lead for events supported by the programs team. This includes managing freelance designers, mail houses, copy centers, and partnering with SLS Communications Department to ensure the product reflects the vision conceptualized by Faculty and Executive Directors. Oversee design and production of marketing materials from inception to deployment.
Prepare/format final content in web file formats including HTML and PDF. Work with Communications team on technical feasibility issues in order to execute design and content updates.
Manage event calendar postings on the Law School website, updating logistical information as needed for consistency of services and facilities promised in promotional materials.
Oversee the management of relevant databases and email distribution lists using CRM system, Salesforce.com.
Manage relevant processes for publication of program paper series and other academic publications related to relevant programs and colloquia.
Ensure the Program Group marketing materials are following the SLS Identity Guide.
Oversee and assist a junior marketing staff member.
Assist in the planning, executing and staffing of events as assigned by the SLS Program Director to support marketing objectives. This includes coordination of pre-event logistics with other team members, SLS departments, and assisting with onsite management on the day of the event and post event wrap up.
Assist in the planning, coordination and execution of events involving international speakers and guests.
Coordinate in the processing of reimbursement requests and invoices.
Bachelor's degree and 5 years relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.
A proven knowledge of events management.
Understands how to implement integrated marketing programs across channels including digital and print.
Experience with project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated creative problem solver.
Strong and effective communication skills.
Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Familiarity with Stanford systems a plus, knowledge of database, MS Office and Google spreadsheet applications required.
Experience in Web (WordPress, web-design, basic knowledge of HTML), design (photoshop/InDesign), Email Marketing (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Campaign Monitor, etc.), and writing event content, preferred.
Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, speaking, writing by hand.
Rarely sort/file paperwork.
Willing and able to lift up to 35 pounds on occasion.
